Welcome to The Spitfire Company
The Spitfire Company is a restoration and Maintenance facility dedicated to returning Spitfires back to the skies. Our Facility is CAA Approved, our specialality being Supermarine Spitfires, but we also Maintain other Second World War fighters, including P-51 Mustangs, Hawker Hurricanes and a Hispano Buchon.
How it all Began?
The Spitfire Company was founded in early 2011 under the name of The Spitfire Company (Biggin Hill) Limited, with the purpose of restoring a single Spitfire, Spitfire Mk1 X4650 and subsequently TA805 'Spirit of Kent'. The same year Spitfire IX MK912 joined the collection followed by Hurricane AE977 the following year, and by 2013 we restored 2 more Spitfires, MK IXV RW382 and MK IX TD314.
In 2015 with another Spitfire completed, Mk Vc EE602, and another 3 Spitfires under restoration, we were at full capacity and needed to move to bigger facility. December 2015 Saw us move to a larger facility, with two hangars, completing 2 more Spitfires in 2016.
Since 2011, we have restored 18 Spitfires of various marks, with projects still undergoing restoration, and many awaiting aircraft. The collection has grown from a single hanger of 3 aircraft, to now over a Squadron of Spitfires, including other aircraft, P-51 Mustang, Hispano Buchon, Hawker Hurricane, L4 Cub, Cessna Bird Dog, Messerchmitt 109 and P-40 Warhawk.
We are now a recognised Supermarine Spitfire restoration and maintenance specialist, and the largest Spitfire operator in the world, no where else can you find such a large concentration of Spitfires than at The Spitfire Company Biggin Hill.
